Yuga Labs Wins Another Counterfeit Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT Case

The company behind the Bored Ape nonfungible tokens Yuga Labs Inc. won a nearly $194,000 default judgment award against a Nevada resident who took part in an effort to sell counterfeit Bored Ape NFTs.

The case is separate but related to Yuga Labs’ largely successful trademark infringement lawsuit against conceptual artist Ryder Ripps, who sold identical looking Bored Ape NFTs that he dubbed the “RR/BAYC.”

Ryan Hickman, who allegedly sold the copycat NFTs alongside Ripps, initially failed to respond to Yuga Labs’ lawsuit in the US District Court for the District of Nevada after it was filed in January.
