The Space Development Agency has announced the awards of two prototype agreements to build and operate the Tranche 2 Transport Layer–Beta variant prototype constellation, which consists of 72 satellites, according to a Monday news release.

The SDA awarded the Other Transaction Authority agreements, which have a total value of nearly $1.5 billion, to Northrop Grumman Space Systems and Lockheed Martin Corp. to build and operate the 36 T2T–Beta prototype constellation satellites, the agency said.
