Long Island residents seeking to stop the onshore part of the South Fork Wind Farm near Montauk over concerns about additional PFAS contamination lacked standing for their case, a federal court said.
The US District Court for the Eastern District of New York dismissed the case because it found that the harms the residents alleged couldn’t be traced back to the Interior Department or the Army Corps of Engineers. The agencies didn’t have jurisdiction over the onshore cable that would transfer electricity from the offshore wind farm to the grid, the court said.
