MetLife Will Face Former Employee’s Age Discrimination Suit

MetLife Inc. couldn’t shake a former employee’s claim that it violated federal age discrimination law when it laid him off as part of reduction in force.

The employee’s evidence presented a genuine dispute whether two younger employees replaced the plaintiff, the opinion by Judge Wendy Beetlestone said for the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Matthew Higgins started work for Logan Circle Partners in 2007, which was acquired by MetLife in 2017. Higgins was a research analyst on the industrial sectors team, covering aerospace, defense, and airlines.
