Gannett Hit With Class Action Over ‘Reverse Race Discrimination’

Gannett Co. is being sued by a group of former and current journalists alleging a company policy discriminated against non-minorities on the basis of race.

Steven Bradley and four others alleged different newspapers under the Gannett umbrella have chosen to hire minorities to fill positions they were otherwise unqualified to hold. But because of a 2020 company-wide policy “which was purportedly designed to achieve inclusion quotas,” a number of “disadvantaged class members” were discriminated against, the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia said.
