A regulation prohibiting the possession of firearms on government property is constitutional, a federal court ruled.
Taffari J. Marique appealed his conviction by a magistrate judge for possessing a firearm on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, Md., arguing the prohibition on his possession wasn’t permissible under the US Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. In Bruen, the high court held the Second Amendment protects the right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.
