Abortion Advocates Must Defend Federal Clinic Access Law Charges

Abortion advocates who allegedly spray-painted intimidating messages on facilities that provide “abortion alternatives” must face charges that they violated the Freedom of Access to Clinical Entrances Act, a federal court said.

The US District Court for the Middle District of Florida, on Aug. 18, refused to dismiss an indictment that charged four defendants with violating the law by defacing facilities that provide counseling, pregnancy testing, ultrasound examinations, and referral services.

The defendants argued that the law doesn’t apply to crisis pregnancy centers because they aren’t licensed or credentialed to provide reproductive health services.
