Melbourne IT Defaced By Syrian Electronic Army

Following lasts night attacks on New York Times, Twitter and Huffington Post UK Syrian Electronic army defaced the domain of the registration service Melbourne IT http://www.melbourneit.com.au/blog/.

The attack took place a couple of minutes ago. Melbourne IT website defaced with the message “Hacked by SEA, Your servers security is very weak”. Its worth noting that even Microsoft and Yahoo are register at Melbourne IT.

 

The Syrian Electronic Army last night took control over the 3 high profile websites. The Twitter.com, nytimes.com and huffington.co.uk whois record, which lists the owner of the Web address names called domains, listed the owner’s e-mail address as sea@sea.sy.

“The New York Times Web site was unavailable to readers on Tuesday afternoon following an attack on the company’s domain name registrar, Melbourne IT. The attack also required employees of The Times to stop sending out sensitive e-mails,” the story said. “The Syrian Electronic Army, a hacker collective that supports the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, is believed to have attacked the sites or social media accounts of several prominent media organizations.”
